Who are we? We are a group of volunteer trained by the Essex Ambulance Service to go to any alpha call passed to us from the Essex Ambulance Service via a mobile phone (alpha call are life threatening calls).

 

What do we do? We are trained to use oxygen, a defibrillator and can do CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). We help any person in our community who require urgent assistance from the ambulance service. Our aim is to be on the scene within 8 minutes of receiving the call from ambulance control. We don’t replace the ambulance service as an ambulance will be despatched at the same time.

 

How can you help? We are in need of funding to purchase extra training equipment that can keep us up to date and ready for any situation we may be called to. We also would like to hear from anyone who may be interested in joining the Hedingham First Responders. As a volunteer you only do the hours you can spare, and even 1 hour per week would be a great help to your community. At the moment we almost cover the 24/7 but we do have times when none of the responders are available to cover.
